Anjem Choudary and the First Amendment

We will know after his trial whether merely expressing approval for terrorists is the same as "inviting support for terrorism" under section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000

However much you loathe him, Choudary has clearly bounced the government into showing its true colours. This is what all the radical but peaceful Muslims do, and in this way perform a public service for us by being the litmus test as regards how much liberals still believe in liberalism.

If expressing approval of terrorists is treated as "inviting support for terrorism", then we no longer have free speech.

If Anjem Choudary were an American Citizen found guilty under this law, that would mean that the US government has unilaterally done away with the First Amendment.

If liberals no longer believe in free speech and the rule of law, then what do they still believe in?

We already know they no longer believe in freedom of contract and freedom of association.

It would appear that approving of gay marriage is a badge of liberalism, but when was changing the definition of marriage ever a pillar of liberalism?

PC Liberalism is really about the sanctification of the right to have extramarital sex as an inalienable human right.

How helpful is this idea to society and the strength and duration of Western civilisation?

Social conservatives of all religions and none would say "Not at all helpful."

You would have thought that the CPS would have prepared his case ready for trial by now considering he was arrested on 25 September 2014, but they are making him wait another 5 months before he can have his trial, presumably to send a message to other Muslim radicals as to what could happen to them if they are considered by the government to be expressing approval for ISIS.

If liberalism is no longer about free speech and freedom of worship, what is it about?

Is liberalism now synonymous with unquestioning support of neocon foreign policy and gay marriage?

Is this the reason why citizens of NATO member states are now targets of Muslim terrorism?

Are you sure you are comfortable with this idea?

Proposed Twelve Tables of London after the Islamic Revolution

YUSUFALI: The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.
PICKTHAL: The adulterer and the adulteress, scourge ye each one of them (with) a hundred stripes. And let not pity for the twain withhold you from obedience to Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of believers witness their punishment.
SHAKIR: (As for) the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them, (giving) a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement.

YUSUFALI: If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way.
PICKTHAL: As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, call to witness four of you against them. And if they testify (to the truth of the allegation) then confine them to the houses until death take them or (until) Allah appoint for them a way (through new legislation).
SHAKIR: And as for those who are guilty of an indecency from among your women, call to witnesses against them four (witnesses) from among you; then if they bear witness confine them to the houses until death takes them away or Allah opens some way for them.

YUSUFALI: If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, Leave them alone; for Allah is Oft-returning, Most Merciful.
PICKTHAL: And as for the two of you who are guilty thereof, punish them both. And if they repent and improve, then let them be. Lo! Allah is ever relenting, Merciful.
SHAKIR: And as for the two who are guilty of indecency from among you, give them both a punishment; then if they repent and amend, turn aside from them; surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful.

YUSUFALI: Let those who find not the wherewithal for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah gives them means out of His grace. And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them: yea, give them something yourselves out of the means which Allah has given to you. But force not your maids to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is Allah, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them),
PICKTHAL: And let those who cannot find a match keep chaste till Allah give them independence by His grace. And such of your slaves as seek a writing (of emancipation), write it for them if ye are aware of aught of good in them, and bestow upon them of the wealth of Allah which He hath bestowed upon you. Force not your slave-girls to whoredom that ye may seek enjoyment of the life of the world, if they would preserve their chastity. And if one force them, then (unto them), after their compulsion, lo! Allah will be Forgiving, Merciful.
SHAKIR: And let those who do not find the means to marry keep chaste until Allah makes them free from want out of His grace. And (as for) those who ask for a writing from among those whom your right hands possess, give them the writing if you know any good in them, and give them of the wealth of Allah which He has given you; and do not compel your slave girls to prostitution, when they desire to keep chaste, in order to seek the frail good of this world's life; and whoever compels them, then surely after their compulsion Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

YUSUFALI: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).
PICKTHAL: Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.
SHAKIR: Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.

YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties: let not the scribe refuse to write: as Allah Has taught him, so let him write. Let him who incurs the liability dictate, but let him fear His Lord Allah, and not diminish aught of what he owes. If they party liable is mentally deficient, or weak, or unable Himself to dictate, Let his guardian dictate faithfully, and get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her. The witnesses should not refuse when they are called on (For evidence). Disdain not to reduce to writing (your contract) for a future period, whether it be small or big: it is juster in the sight of Allah, More suitable as evidence, and more convenient to prevent doubts among yourselves but if it be a transaction which ye carry out on the spot among yourselves, there is no blame on you if ye reduce it not to writing. But take witness whenever ye make a commercial contract; and let neither scribe nor witness suffer harm. If ye do (such harm), it would be wickedness in you. So fear Allah; For it is Good that teaches you. And Allah is well acquainted with all things. If ye are on a journey, and cannot find a scribe, a pledge with possession (may serve the purpose). And if one of you deposits a thing on trust with another, let the trustee (faithfully) discharge his trust, and let him Fear his Lord conceal not evidence; for whoever conceals it, - his heart is tainted with sin. And Allah knoweth all that ye do.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! When ye contract a debt for a fixed term, record it in writing. Let a scribe record it in writing between you in (terms of) equity. No scribe should refuse to write as Allah hath taught him, so let him write, and let him who incurreth the debt dictate, and let him observe his duty to Allah his Lord, and diminish naught thereof. But if he who oweth the debt is of low understanding, or weak, or unable himself to dictate, then let the guardian of his interests dictate in (terms of) equity. And call to witness, from among your men, two witnesses. And if two men be not (at hand) then a man and two women, of such as ye approve as witnesses, so that if the one erreth (through forgetfulness) the other will remember. And the witnesses must not refuse when they are summoned. Be not averse to writing down (the contract) whether it be small or great, with (record of) the term thereof. That is more equitable in the sight of Allah and more sure for testimony, and the best way of avoiding doubt between you; save only in the case when it is actual merchandise which ye transfer among yourselves from hand to hand. In that case it is no sin for you if ye write it not. And have witnesses when ye sell one to another, and let no harm be done to scribe or witness. If ye do (harm to them) lo! it is a sin in you. Observe your duty to Allah. Allah is teaching you. And Allah is knower of all things.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! when you deal with each other in contracting a debt for a fixed time, then write it down; and let a scribe write it down between you with fairness; and the scribe should not refuse to write as Allah has taught him, so he should write; and let him who owes the debt dictate, and he should be careful of (his duty to) Allah, his Lord, and not diminish anything from it; but if he who owes the debt is unsound in understanding, or weak, or (if) he is not able to dictate himself, let his guardian dictate with fairness; and call in to witness from among your men two witnesses; but if there are not two men, then one man and two women from among those whom you choose to be witnesses, so that if one of the two errs, the second of the two may remind the other; and the witnesses should not refuse when they are summoned; and be not averse to writing it (whether it is) small or large, with the time of its falling due; this is more equitable in the sight of Allah and assures greater accuracy in testimony, and the nearest (way) that you may not entertain doubts (afterwards), except when it is ready merchandise which you give and take among yourselves from hand to hand, then there is no blame on you in not writing it down; and have witnesses when you barter with one another, and let no harm be done to the scribe or to the witness; and if you do (it) then surely it will be a transgression in you, and be careful of (your duty) to Allah, Allah teaches you, and Allah knows all things.

YUSUFALI: Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
PICKTHAL: There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower.
SHAKIR: There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error; therefore, whoever disbelieves in the Shaitan and believes in Allah he indeed has laid hold on the firmest handle, which shall not break off, and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

YUSUFALI: It is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou dost deal gently with them Wert thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee: so pass over (Their faults), and ask for (Allah's) forgiveness for them; and consult them in affairs (of moment). Then, when thou hast Taken a decision put thy trust in Allah. For Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him).
PICKTHAL: It was by the mercy of Allah that thou wast lenient with them (O Muhammad), for if thou hadst been stern and fierce of heart they would have dispersed from round about thee. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult with them upon the conduct of affairs. And when thou art resolved, then put thy trust in Allah. Lo! Allah loveth those who put their trust (in Him).
SHAKIR: Thus it is due to mercy from Allah that you deal with them gently, and had you been rough, hard hearted, they would certainly have dispersed from around you; pardon them therefore and ask pardon for them, and take counsel with them in the affair; so when you have decided, then place your trust in Allah; surely Allah loves those who trust.

YUSUFALI: And know that out of all the booty that ye may acquire (in war), a fifth share is assigned to Allah,- and to the Messenger, and to near relatives, orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer,- if ye do believe in Allah and in the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Testing,- the Day of the meeting of the two forces. For Allah hath power over all things.
PICKTHAL: And know that whatever ye take as spoils of war, lo! a fifth thereof is for Allah, and for the messenger and for the kinsman (who hath need) and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, if ye believe in Allah and that which We revealed unto Our slave on the Day of Discrimination, the day when the two armies met. And Allah is Able to do all things.
SHAKIR: And know that whatever thing you gain, a fifth of it is for Allah and for the Messenger and for the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, if you believe in Allah and in that which We revealed to Our servant, on the day of distinction, the day on which the two parties met; and Allah has power over all things.

YUSUFALI: Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin.
PICKTHAL: Slay not your children, fearing a fall to poverty, We shall provide for them and for you. Lo! the slaying of them is great sin.
SHAKIR: And do not kill your children for fear of poverty; We give them sustenance and yourselves (too); surely to kill them is a great wrong.
YUSUFALI: When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned -
PICKTHAL: And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked
SHAKIR: And when the female infant buried alive is asked
YUSUFALI: For what crime she was killed;
PICKTHAL: For what sin she was slain,
SHAKIR: For what sin she was killed,

The interpretation being "You cannot kill your children just because they are the wrong sex ie female or because you fear poverty, but you can kill them for other reasons eg if they are disabled unviable and unwanted under the principle of what is not forbidden must be allowed.

The laws of the Twelve Tables of Rome required the pater familias to ensure that "obviously deformed" infants were put to death.

YUSUFALI: So set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith: (establish) Allah's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind: no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by Allah: that is the standard Religion: but most among mankind understand not.
PICKTHAL: So set thy purpose (O Muhammad) for religion as a man by nature upright - the nature (framed) of Allah, in which He hath created man. There is no altering (the laws of) Allah's creation. That is the right religion, but most men know not -
SHAKIR: Then set your face upright for religion in the right state-- the nature made by Allah in which He has made men; there is no altering of Allah's creation; that is the right religion, but most people do not know--
YUSUFALI: Turn ye back in repentance to Him, and fear Him: establish regular prayers, and be not ye among those who join gods with Allah,-
PICKTHAL: Turning unto Him (only); and be careful of your duty unto Him and establish worship, and be not of those who ascribe partners (unto Him);
SHAKIR: Turning to Him, and be careful of (your duty to) Him and keep up prayer and be not of the polytheists
YUSUFALI: Those who split up their Religion, and become (mere) Sects,- each party rejoicing in that which is with itself!
PICKTHAL: Of those who split up their religion and became schismatics, each sect exulting in its tenets.
SHAKIR: Of those who divided their religion and became seas every sect rejoicing in what they had with them
What is representative democracy but dividing our state ideology into sects and rejoicing in our own doctrines? Let us not journey further on this road to perdition.

YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it...But fear Allah: For Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! Shun much suspicion; for lo! some suspicion is a crime. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Ye abhor that (so abhor the other)! And keep your duty (to Allah). Lo! Allah is Relenting, Merciful.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! avoid most of suspicion, for surely suspicion in some cases is a sin, and do not spy nor let some of you backbite others. Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? But you abhor it; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.

Can't say fairer than this, can we?

Let us make this bargain with God even if we don't quite believe in Him, for doing so and adopting Secular Koranism will once again give the West access to a reliable source of social conservatism now that Christianity has fallen to gay marriage and democracy is dementia. We can survive a bad religion or bad government, but not both. Let us therefore jump before we are pushed by ISIS.

Should it be a crime to express approval of a terrorist organisation targeting your government and fellow citizens?

I would suggest not. Those who do stick their neck out to say such things will have sacrificed their reputations and livelihoods in order to do this. If they are prepared to make these sacrifices to make their point, shouldn't we take the trouble to listen to their arguments?

Anjem Choudary's message to those who would give up the First Amendment/Article 9 to suppress Islam

Choudary is daring Islamophobes to give up the First Amendment and Article 9 of the European Convention of Human Rights in order to suppress Islam. Doing this would be analogous to putting your king in check in a game of chess, but the degenerate West is no longer capable of understanding rules, the purpose of rules, fair play nor does it value the hard-won liberties their ancestors fought for.

What kind of society will the West be after it gives up this most fundamental of liberal principles? It will no longer be liberal, of course.

What is liberalism anyway?

It would appear to be a gateway ideology to the dysgenic abomination of gay marriage.

Heads liberals lose, tails the Islamists win?

Choudary knows that hypocritical Islamophobes do not value these liberal principles because they are now too degenerate to grasp the concept of a principle, let alone know what they are for. What would be the West be like after it has given up all its liberal principles in order to suppress the Islamists? What would be the point of giving up these liberal principles just to prop up a demented matriarchy? They might as well give up these principles to re-establish a rational patriarchy.

He is saying - and of course I paraphrase:

"You don't believe in any of this crap either, do you? You will keep changing your laws in your attempts to criminalise what I say in order to suppress my message. You keep changing your laws to hide how useless and wrong they are, even though you continue to laud the rule of law as a fundamental British value, but you don't believe in that either, not really. If you imprison me, I shall be a martyr to free speech, but if your courts find me not guilty of inviting support for terrorism then my reputation is enhanced. I have in any case only expressed approval of Islamic State but this is what you want to in fact criminalise me for, without quite daring to say so. You cannot win this argument, so bring it on."

(Sharia law is of course a species of the rule of law, in case you didn't know.)

God is with those who are patient and persevere, and He does not change the lot of those who do not change what is in their hearts.

What is in the hearts of so many Westerners that God if He exists would wish changed? I imagine it would be the irrational belief that liberalism and feminism is absolutely right and Islam absolutely wrong without an honest thoroughgoing debate and investigation into the policies that led us to this pretty pass.

The late Jonathan Bowden on biology, feminism and traditional societies

From 24:59:

In what sense do you understand men and women to be different and in what way should societal and other institutions reflect those differences?

"I think life determines the difference. I think it is biological. Some women have different brains. They socialise and interact with each other in completely different ways. Deep down almost everyone understands this. There is always a problem with the proportion of women who are completely capable of doing quite advanced male careers. Do you rip up what society always was to facilitate this active, gifted and militant minority to get their own way? The West is a society that allows it to do that. It has made a lot of other people rather unhappy - both male and female. 70% of women just want a home-based option: a man and children, despite all the ideology that goes around, but there is still 30% that would want something different. The Western tradition is slightly different to the Asiatic, the Negroid, the Arab, the Eurasian and others. Women have always had more of a stake publicly in Western societies. The Germanic tribes the women often fought behind the men. The men went first. I am opposed to feminism but at the same time there are gifted women who can perform certain public roles, but as long as you ideologise on what deep down most men and women want, the truth is natural biology will take care of these things. You have to apply immense pressure on a society to get it to act in a counter-propositional and non-biological way. You have to engage in intense propagandistic efforts through the media to try and reverse gender roles and force inverted stereotypes on people. If you take all that off and allow the natural quote unquote political incorrectness of gender roles to proliferate you will find that you will have the odd MI5 Chief who is a woman and the odd judge who is a woman but broadly speaking you will have a traditional society where the roles are quite clearly male and female and deep down no woman respects a man who doesn't think that although they don't like him saying this."

Alan Harvey's Swinton Circle meeting with Liberty GB's Islamophobic leader Paul Weston ends in mutual rancour

As many readers will alas be aware, last month’s planned Swinton Circle meeting unfortunately proved to be a complete disaster. About 18 months ago a young Canadian joined the organization, and being highly impressed with his abilities, friendliness and apparent authentic support for the patriotic ideals of the organization he was “fast-tracked” onto the Committee.

I am informed that Paul Griffin is a "likeable young chap with a very inquisitive mind" though he "lacks confidence and experience." "Paul Griffin was born at Ottawa, Canada, and studied at the University of Durham where he gained an MSci degree in Geoscience. He currently works in London as an IT Technical Support Analyst, specializing primarily in databases. He has made an extensive study of European history and associated philosophy ... "
A short while ago he recommended that the Swinton Circle should make contact with an organization calling itself “Liberty GB” which he assured the rest of the Committee shared similar patriotic aims and objectives. Not doubting his assurances in this regard the Swinton Circle therefore made contact with this organization, though alas without checking its bona fides, and indeed invited their leader, a certain Paul Weston, to address its July meeting.

How odd that Alan Harvey who is British political activist considered Eurosceptic and right of centre should wish to accept the assurances of a Canadian whipper-snapper much younger than himself. How odd too that Alan Harvey seems unaware that Paul Weston's Islamophobia is even deeper and wider than that of the BNP's.

Alarm bells started to ring when a complete stranger turned up for this meeting and announced that he was a member of a “splitist” political party called “The English Democrats”, which being the English equivalent of the SNP was therefore the complete antithesis to what the Swinton Circle stands for. Worries quickly escalated however, when a steady trickle of strangers – none of whom had been officially invited – starting arriving for this meeting, and when approached one unknown woman stated that she had been “invited” by a known and notorious neo-fascist extremist! In retrospect the meeting probably should have been called off at this stage, but the arrival of the guest speaker only confused and intensified the worrying situation even further. It was by then obvious that this “Liberty GB” outfit had seen fit to circulate “invitations” to a whole batch of extremist contacts without having the common decency to inform the Swinton Circle in advance! Even worse, the leader of this outfit arrived together with a BBC camera-crew who were evidently making a programme about him and what subsequently turned out to be his extremist views – again without having the common decency to inform the Swinton Circle about this action and to ask their permission. Worse was to follow however, for the known and notorious neo-fascist leader did as feared turn up himself, and a couple of other apparently well-known political extremists were also identified by one of the Swinton Circle member present.

If Alan Harvey already knew Paul Weston was a "notorious neo-fascist leader" why did he invite him to speak at a Swinton Circle meeting?

Harvey is as capricious as a woman and it is probably not worth our while trying to work out the twists and turns of his mind. If he did not want the meeting filmed he should have said so, not given permission and then regretted it because he felt put upon by Paul Weston or "betrayed" by Paul Griffin. I have been reliably told that what actually transpired will be revealed at the next meeting of the London Swinton Circle (ie not Harvey's Swinton Circle) at

Alan Harvey has been described by Searchlight magazine as a publisher of "racist and antisemitic" material. Harvey also ran the 'Springbok Club'which has been described by Johann Hari in The Independent as a "racist organisation." Somewhat contrary to these assertions, it became public in July 2015 that Harvey had firmly refused an alliance with ex-UKIP candidate and writer for European Knights Project Jack Sen with Harvey expressing concern over Sen's alleged "Neo-Nazi" associations and maintaining the Springbok Club was "101% Pro-Israel."

Harvey was a one time Chair of the Circle but was expelled from the London Swinton Circle in October 2008 after disrupting the business of the Circle amidst allegations that he was a "Searchlight mole".

In January 2009 Harvey formed a rival breakaway group using the name 'Swinton Circle'. London Swinton Circle member, and former Leader of the National Front, Ian Anderson commented on the development that Harvey was claiming "he was in charge of the [London] Swinton Circle and even called meetings, however as they rapidly degenerated into occasions for him to attack anyone he felt like, they have not been a great success". Harvey later told Searchlight magazine that he had "won" in his struggle against the London Swinton Circle. has a number of unflattering references to Harvey's mental stability and a particularly mysterious one about his nappy photos.

[EXCLUSIVE] Anjem Choudary & Abu Baraa last talk before Arrest

Bride-stealing throughout the ages

Isn't Howard Keel charming?

The future of free speech in Britain: will those who think UK foreign policy is evil be labelled terrorist sympathisers?
