It is vital not only that the Catholic voice is heard but that it takes a leading role in shaping this moment, so full of promise and peril for our country. It can lead us in the direction of the common good and reassert one of the fundamental teachings of the papal encyclicals: that the old is the new. It is the Catholic tradition that can redeem England’s promise.
Lord Glasman is clearly hoping to use Catholicism as an instrument of government. Why not go the whole hog and use Secular Koranism instead?

@Zuckerbeckers How is Lord Glasman going to make a majority atheist country adhere to Catholic teaching?— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers What does Lord Glasman understand by Catholic teaching? Banning abortion?— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers The common good can be the national interest, I suppose. A bit vague.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers What are the economics of subsidiarity?— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers Sounds like vague feelgoodery. Xtianity is kaput and indistinguishable from the liberalism sane people want to get away from.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers I don't see how you can make people good neighbours unless there are law that punish them for being unneighbourly.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers It is all so vague that one thinks we are not meant to take it seriously at all. If he had said Islam we would take notice!— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers What does BL stand for?— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers When Lord Glasman said he wanted to stop immigration altogether, I thought he had decided to adopt BNP policies.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers What is Christian Labourism?— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers If there is such a thing as Christian Labourism, then there should logically and necessarily also be Islamist Labourism ...— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers If Lord Glasman were really pushing at the envelope, he would be pushing Islamist Labourism rather than Catholic Labourism.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers Perhaps Lord Glasman will consider joining UKIP now it is unlikely that Labour will be in office for the foreseeable future.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers That was then and this is now. Non-Muslim Labour members are overwhelmingly atheist and contemptuous of Christianity.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers Catholicism has been nasty about Jews in the past, and it is curious that an observant Jew would wish to use Catholicism.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers I suppose Lord Glasman thinks Catholicism is safe to use now that it is no longer venomously anti-Semitic.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers But since losing its venomous anti-Semitism, Catholicism has lost much of its influence. The Pope is now liberal.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers Islam would abolish capitalism by abolishing usury, but without destroying commerce. Perhaps Lord Glasman will consider this.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers The Koran could be interpreted to give citizens of an Islamic State a constitutional right not to be taxed more than 20%.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers A flat rate income tax of 20% would be a very attractive to all kinds of people, I imagine. https://t.co/5iQ38VQDF0— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers The Koran would include the issues dealt with by the two Papal Encyclicals called Rerum Novarum and Quadragesimo Anno.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers I don't imagine Lord Glasman would recommend that the British convert to Judaism. They're a degenerate lot and not up to it.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers It is bemusing to see a Jew recommend Catholicism to the mainly atheist populace of Britain.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers Politics is about changing laws, surely. Once you are in office with a majority, you change the law through Parliament.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers Clearly, Lord Glasman envisages changing the laws of this country from what it is now to Catholic social teaching.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers This country is Anglican officially and there was a time when Anglicans feared Catholics the way they now fear Muslims.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers Muslim radicals would though! Perhaps the 20% flat rate income tax proposal will be attractive enough to get the punters in.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers The idea of having sex slaves has been attractive enough to induce young Muslim men into sacrificing life and limb for IS.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers It is possible that some men might relish the option of having up to four wives and some women want to share a husband.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers I don't think people will be attracted by the idea of being vaguely Catholic when Christianity is now seen to be failing.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers I am a Secular Koranist promoting Secular Koranism. https://t.co/2HKPKUbYSZ— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016
@Zuckerbeckers https://t.co/kBbKa3ONDK is what I have blogged about Lord Glasman's idea. The comments are the most interesting, I think.— Claire Khaw (@ntfem) August 8, 2016

I'm confused. Why is he promoting Catholicism as being England's only hope when he's Jewish?
It is a little odd, I agree. Obviously, he feels the British need a bit of religion and thinks Catholicism might just do the job. Judaism will be too hard for the degenerates.
What in his opinion makes Catholicism any more fit for purpose than the Anglican Church?
Perhaps this is a sign of Glasman coming closer to Secular Koranism.
Clearly, Blue Labour is not an idea big enough to defeat Labour Arch-Feminazi Helen Goodman MP, so now he's hoping to use Catholicism, because Anglicanism is too wishy-washy now.
When he finds that doesn't work the next step up is Secular Koranism.
British Jews have tried to overthrow the matriarchy, but in a matriarchy Jews are lower than feminazis and sluts. In a matriarchy, all men are lower than sluts.
Before Glasman tried it was Keith Joseph in 1974 speaking against Slut Single Mothers in his Edgbaston speech warning that "our human stock is threatened" by their degenerate breeding of badly-parented bastards. This ended with him having to make way for Margaret Thatcher as Tory leader.
I would've thought it would be more conducive for the likes of Maurice Glasman to try to inject some social conservatism into the Conservative Party than into the Labour Party. During Thatcher's Premiership, the “wets” opposed her free-market policies, as did the Monday Club and the original High Tories, which would also appeal to Glasman.
He can't join the Tories though, can he? He'd lose all his seniority and be treated like a traitor by the Labour Party, and the Tories would kick him around. That is the trouble with our tribal system, and this is why we should have a one party state.
I am saying it was a mistake for him to start his Blue Labour project within the Labour Party in the first place.
Then again, the Conservative Party must die. I agree completely with Peter Hitchens that this party must collapse before the space can be filled by a genuinely Tory party. The more I hear him speak of this, the more sense it makes to me.
Easier said than done. No one is going to abandon the Tory Party when it is the party of government, and Labour haven't a hope in hell of getting elected under Corbyn.
How on earth would Maurice Glasman get this past Arch-Feminazi Helen Goodman or even get Corbyn to adopt it? Momentum are the people who pull his strings, and they are a Far Left grouping. Sluts and socialists go hand in hand like horse and carriage.
I support Corbyn and want Labour to be pulled to the Left. Any move that destroys the cosy consensus of ‘middle-ground, pragmatic liberalism’ is good with me. I like a politics of ideas and distinctions.
It is just as easily done as it is said, which Hitchens also says. All people — social conservative — need to do is stop voting for the Conservative Party. But they won't and don't. People make politics more complicated than it ought to be.
Even if Labour won the next election and the Tories are in opposition, how would "a genuinely Conservative Party" come about? It would depend on whoever is leader. It's like betting on the Grand National or, worse, the leader of the Conservative Party.
It is not hard to see why Radical Muslims are proposing a Caliphate.
The best thing to do is usher in a Caliphate then make sure we control the interpretation of the Koran by appointing the judiciary and setting the syllabus for law exams. This seems obvious, doesn't it?
‘how would "a genuinely Conservative Party" come about?’
By destroying the Conservative Party. Make it a nothing. Read Hitchens. I would be rejoicing if the current Labour split were in fact happening to the Conservatives. I believe it would indeed have happened if Andrea Leadsom, a devout Christian with avowedly socially conservative opinions, had been elected PM (let's leave aside your other criticisms of Leadsom so I can emphasise this point).
Once you get people to agree with the idea in principle, they will start asking questions like how it is to be done. Sadly, we are not even past this stage because most people cannot bring themselves to even discuss it, especially if they are senior politicians who can get into terrible trouble just for discussing - SHOCK HORROR - *ideas* ....
I would sooner vote Labour than Conservative, something I never thought I'd say. And I'm someone who would love nothing more than to be able, out of conviction, to be able to vote for a proper Tory Party.
Shoulda wouda coulda ....
Theresa May made the most left-wing speech on the steps of Number 10 ever to come from a Prime Minister — Labour or Conservative. She took advantage of Labour's internal disarray by stealing the language of the Left in the hope of sweeping up the disadvantaged into the Conservative bosom.
My strategy would be for UKIP to get Tory MPs to join UKIP and then offer them a leadership election.
But this would mean having a UKIP leader prepared to countenance this. Another dead end, I'm afraid.
Democracy is all about waiting for things to fail and then trying something else that will also fail.
We need a one party state to do away with this sclerosis, but people aren't even prepared to talk about it.
I'd just abolish the House of Commons and democracy.
We can't say this directly. We would have to mince our words and say things like narrow the franchise to taxpayers only or talk about a taxpayers' democracy. You'd abolish the Lower but not the Upper House? I'd have a unicameral Parliament and turn the Houses of Parliament into a Museum Hotel.
and the next day Lord Glasman gets burnt at the stake by catholics for 'killing jesus'
So you think Lord Glasman is a Jewish turkey voting for Xmas?
