Becoming MP is the occupation of being paid by the taxpayer to lose the ability to speak your mind.
What sane and honourable person would willingly do that, and then be treated like shit and expected to live on rations?

Solon ended exclusive aristocratic control of the government, substituted a system of control by the wealthy, and introduced a new and more humane law code. He was also a noted poet.
