Why don't black people do us all a favour and decide ONCE AND FOR ALL what to call themselves??

It is annoying to be told when you call black people what you think they are called for them to give you a hard time and say "Ew, that's so  last year! We stopped calling ourselves that months ago. Get with it, Dominic Cabbagepatch!"

I suggest all black people call themselves IC3 and let white people call themselves IC1 to make them still feel important.

  1. Was it black people or white people who decided what and what not are acceptable terms to refer to not just black people but any other. Native American? Afro Caribbean? Bi racial/mixed rave? Visually impaired? Gender reassignment as opposed to sex change? Partner instead of boyfriend or girlfriend? And so on... blimey!

  2. If you can be an African American, can you be an American African?

  3. It just seems that they are calling themselves sillier and sillier names in America.

I know someone who calls himself a White African.

  4. If you can be a Black American you can be a White American. If you can be a Black African you can be a White African. Anyway, White Africans do exist.

  5. Are there white Chinese and black Chinese? No, that's like me saying I'm black English. I'm a human being. We are like roses that come in different colours, but all roses.

  6. If you are talking about continents, you are entitled to expect that all the people of a continent are not one race!

It is only feels ridiculous to think of a Black Japanese or a Black Chinese because people are confusing race with nationality.

In theory it is possible to have a black man holding a Japanese passport or a Chinese passport as well as a Jamaican passport.

Just because the Chinese and Japanese are not known for giving passports to black people does not mean that they would never decide to do so, like the British did to people of all races.

  7. But in reality no one would accept that a white man though born and raised in China is a China man.

  8. They would once enough of them have been born in China and were raised as Chinamen though!

  9. They'd still be white with European features though

  10. They wouldn't have slitty eyes but they would be chattering to each other in Chinese and eating with chopsticks all the time.

They would be complaining about racial discrimination and how the Han Chinese discriminate against them and call them names and how hard life was them in China as an ethnic minority ....

  11. But like the black people in America are not accepted as equal neither would they be.

  12. Eventually, the Chinese will have a white leader of the Chinese Communist Party just as the Americans have a black President ....

  13. Obama is half white Claire

America has a half white president

  14. Half white is not so interesting as half black!

  15. He's as white as he is black, Claire.

  16. Why do the media call him half black then?

    ReplyDelete
  17. They don't, they call him black. Skin colouring I suppose.

  18. Liberals like the idea of having a black President, but do the rest of America?

  19. This is what happens when you substitute geographical terms for national terms. African, American, European - none of them are national terms, they have no meaning. To make distinctions you fall back on racial terms but even these are indeterminate: black can mean negro or someone who is dark-skinned mixed race; whereas white means everyone who isn't black!

But none of this will matter in the shiny happy future under the world government when we will all be Terrans - and everyone will have a microchip and we'll each identify each other by barcode...

  20. I have tried to highlight the absurdity that results after one makes a category mistake.

The category mistake I refer to is the confusion and conflation of nationality and race.

One cannot change the race one was born sd, but one can acquire and lose one's nationality/passports.

Just because there are no black people currently holding Chinese passports does not mean that this could not happen.

Such people would be called IC3 Chinese nationals.

When the population of China halves very soon after decades of their disastrous one-child policy, they will find themselves in dire need of immigrant labour.

  21. I think they prefer to call themselves Blasians - black asians - rather than IC3 Chinese nationals.

But they are victims of racial discrimination! Down with the BNP-style fascists at Beijing!

It's time China's blasians were given passports, housing, benefits and the vote. A black vote of course. and they will need a black history month to explain how their ancestors have always been living in China and in fact invented everything in China but are now suffering from institutionalized racism etc.

Certainly China needs to do more to celebrate its black heritage. - And no need to worry about population decline, more hùnxiěr are on the way.
