ReplyDeleteChristians and Christianity are treated with contempt. Being Christian in the West offers you no protection at all. What is the point of being an adherent of a religion that offers you no protection whatsoever?
I posted this comment on another blog: I just had another thought on this. The bakery didn't discriminate against the man because he was gay - indeed if he'd ask them to make a cake with a picture of say Thomas the Tank engine on it, they'd have done it. So it wasn't a refusal to him, it was a refusal to promote his message.
ReplyDeleteSo why is it that one man's beliefs are less important than anothers? Or to try it in reverse... What would happen if a Christian fundamentalist asked a gay baker to make a cake that promoted hetro marriage? The baker might do it, or he might not want to. But if he chose not to I doubt the Christian would try and sue him - and I bet the Equality Commission wouldn't touch it with a bargepole!
