Which is worse? To be raped by a rapist without a condom or with a condom?

'I had no proof to show he had done it to me. There was no DNA because he had used a condom,' Ms Berry said.

Which is worse?

  • To be raped by a rapist without a condom
  • To be raped by a rapist with a condom

Both are problematic.

Being raped by a rapist without a condom increases the risk of unwanted pregnancy and an STI.

However, being raped by a rapist with a condom increases the risk of being asked such questions as:

  1. What were you doing when your rapist was putting on his condom?
  2. Were you just lying around waiting to be raped?
  3. If you were just lying around waiting to be raped, you couldn't have objected that much to being raped, could you?
  4. Could it be said that you did not do all you reasonably could to avoid being raped, such as not lie around while waiting to be raped?
  5. Would a woman genuinely distressed at being raped take selfies of herself afterwards looking faintly wistful and then post it on Facebook?
  6. Have you ever enjoyed rough sex?
  7. If you were looking for "a bit of rough" would you be looking for that from a "tradie"?
  8. How many years have you been on Plenty of Fish?
  9. How many times would you say have had rough sex with men you met on Plenty of Fish?
  10. How many times have you been dead drunk with strange men you have invited into your home?
  11. Would you say you enjoy the sensation of being drunk while strange men you have just met have rough sex with you?
  12. When your alleged rapist was putting on his condom, do you think he was doing it more to protect himself from catching an STI, or to protect you from unwanted pregnancy?
  13. Were you thinking of this song when you took selfies of yourself looking wistful?
