The beginning of wisdom is the fear of God and what He has forbidden.


We need to know the purpose of our lives. The purpose of our life is to know the purpose of our life as an individual, and this must surely mean that we are here to fulfil our potential, whatever it is, and that is why we must know ourselves, our place in the world to understand what we are supposed to do with our lives and what to do for the best.



Religion is supposed to do all of the above by giving our government laws to enforce, assigning us gender roles, giving us a social hierarchy and giving us rules to follow to keep us safe and feeling good about ourselves.
