Do even empires know what's good for them? If so, then why do they decline and fall?
If you only live once, and you only have once chance at sitting the examination at being able to tell the difference between good and evil in theory and in practice, hadn't you better be ensuring that you do not die guilty of a mortal sin making you Hell-bound?
There is a verse in the Koran that says what you dislike may be good for you.
Christianity was put at the service of absolute monarchs who expected their subjects to fight and die for their imperial wars. Atheist American men in their constitutional republic have been known to be conscripted for the imperial wars of America eg Vietnam. There are Koranic principles of warfare and international relations that would be better at preserving the lives of American men if they wish to avoid risking and sacrificing their lives in neocon imperial wars.
