Is someone who keeps saying "I don't care, I don't know, it's not my problem, I can't control anything" a man trying to help himself or a child paralysed by fear? Maybe if your wife does divorce you it is because she senses that you are a child paralysed by fear hiding under a blanket hoping nobody sees him until his need to be heard again that he doesn't care and doesn't know about something that isn't his problem and cannot control overwhelms him again.
