Answering Rabbi Sacks question "What is it that makes us human?"

Rabbi Sacks asks what makes us human. Our capacity for abstract thought raises us above all other species. God is of course the biggest abstract idea of all. If it was Man that created God, then we must ask ourselves if we should worship an idea we ourselves created out if thin air. But why not, if it is useful and solves our political and moral problems?
