reports that British Muslims do not have a mufti and should have one. This was from a report in 2007, and it really is quite remiss of the Muslims not to have sorted that one out yet.
My preferred candidate is Tim Winter, whose voice I find guilt-inducingly thrilling.
The first time I heard his voice on Thought of the Day, I was lying in bed, but he woke me up good and proper, with his deep mellifluous tones speaking his exciting Islamic thoughts.
It looks as if it is now time to start a Tim Winter for Mufti campaign, when I already have so much on my plate, such as my flagging campaign to become Jury Team London MEP candidate.

and search for him under Shaikh Abdal Hakim Murad. There is the proper version and the satirical version, both of which are excellently wise and excellently funny.
A campaigning chant comes to mind:
Tim Winter for Mufti! Tim Winter for Mufti!
