I predicted some years ago that he would die young anyway.
But in a way he lives on and will undoubtedly have an afterlife, if only in our minds and music collections.
Thus does art immortalise us, if we are any good at it.
THE VOICE OF REASON Solon, (born c. 630 BCE—died c. 560 BCE), Athenian statesman, known as one of the Seven Wise Men of Greece (the others were Chilon of Sparta, Thales of Miletus, Bias of Priene, Cleobulus of Lindos, Pittacus of Mytilene, and Periander of Corinth). Solon ended exclusive aristocratic control of the government, substituted a system of control by the wealthy, and introduced a new and more humane law code. He was also a noted poet.

Jackson's records, which are now being played all over the place by DJ's, all seem pretty unmemorable to me.
My favourite track was one entitled 'Can You Feel It?' - which was a fair sounding dance track; no more.
My favourite memory of him was his appearance at Motown’s 25th anniversary bash in 1983.
Michael Jackson sang and danced an original routine that made a young black boy practically fall out of his seat with excitement.
That of course was when he was still black in colour and had a big nose to go with it.
Today, as a probable child-molester with bleached skin, it is difficult to see how he could command the respect of any normal person.
Perhaps death will turn out to have been the best career move he ever made.
We can remember the cool & graceful young black man with the superb dance routines instead of the deracinated freak he subsequently became.
By the way, he was 50 years old.
Does 'dying young' now mean not actually collecting your pension?
