Tom Harris MP for Leader of the Labour Party!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8695225.stm

This is what I posted on Tom Harris' wall, urging him to throw his hat in the ring for the leadership contest, for which the deadline is 9 June (which is also my mother's birthday):

"Look, Tom, throw your hat in the ring anyway and promise you will do everything in your power to

1. have a referendum on withdrawing from the EU
2. effect an immediate withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan
3. abolish child benefit for all
4. reintroduce corporal and capital punishment
5. reintroduce fault in divorce
6. replace Academy Schools with the New Model Comprehensive

I mean, just listen to Ed Balls today on immigration! They are just stealing BNP policies one by one. But we don't mind, because we are generous and liberal like that. When they are all taken and adopted, we will just think up some more for you to steal. The BNP - better than any old think tank, eh?

Just go even further than the other leadership contenders and it is as good as in the bag.

Just be very very clear about what you are offering. If they are shocked and appalled, then the strategy will have worked.

If you talk about fiscal responsibility and keeping the value of the pound in your pocket, you may even get a few Tories voting for you once you are leader.

Nothing wrong I have suggested above contradicts clause iv.

The Labour Party believes that "by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone, so as to create for each of us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many, not the few, where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe, and where we live together, freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect."

Good luck! x x x

He may have left it a bit late to get nominations from 33 MPs, but anything is possible in theory!
