Why I am really more tolerant and forgiving than people who call themselves liberals


I come from a political family not in the sense that my family occupy positions in government but that they regularly discuss politics and frequently disagree with each other.

Sunday is the day they would all meet at my grandparents house and inevitably politics would be discussed after family gossip has been dealt with.

My parents vote quite differently from each other. I am therefore used to a range of opinion being expressed with varying degrees of fanaticism and reasonableness.

Perhaps this is one of the advantages of a large extended family. You just get used to a wider range of views and human behaviour.
