It struck me that if the Americans were going by the Koran the American Civil War would have been prevented.
This is because the Koran tolerates slavery though it encourages owners to free slaves and acknowledges that all slaves have the option of manumission.
That would have been the middle way, I would have thought. Then the slaves would have been gradually freed.
It is quite a thought how so many quarrels that resulted in wars would have been peacefully resolved if people had just followed the Koran.
