One of the most notable features of each list is that sexual relations between a man and his own daughter are not explicitly forbidden, although the first relation mentioned after the Levitical prohibition of sex with "near kin" is that of "thy father."

The Distress of Zion
…20The LORD’s anointed, the breath of our life, was captured in their pits. We had said of him, “Under his shadow we will live among the nations.” 21So rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, who dwells in the land of Uz. Yet the cup will pass to you as well; you will get drunk and expose yourself. 22O Daughter of Zion, your punishment is complete; He will not prolong your exile. But He will punish your iniquity, O Daughter of Edom; He will expose your sins.…

Judgment on Jerusalem
…36This is what the Lord GOD says: Because you poured out your wealth and exposed your nakedness in your promiscuity with your lovers and with all your detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them, 37therefore I will surely gather all the lovers with whom you found pleasure, all those you loved and all those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and expose you before them, and they will see all your nakedness. 38And I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and those who shed blood; so I will bring upon you the wrath of your bloodshed and jealousy.…

The Adultery of Oholah and Oholibah
…2“Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother, 3and they played in Egypt, prostituting themselves from their youth. Their breasts were fondled there, and their virgin bosoms caressed. 4The older was named Oholah, and her sister was named Oholibah. They became Mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. But after she had been defiled by them, she turned away in disgust. 18When Oholibah openly prostituted herself and exposed her nakedness, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister.…

Curses for Disobedience
15 However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you:

16 You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country.

17 Your basket and your kneading trough will be cursed.

18 The fruit of your womb will be cursed, and the crops of your land, and the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

19 You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.

20 The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you have done in forsaking him.[a] 21 The Lord will plague you with diseases until he has destroyed you from the land you are entering to possess. 22 The Lord will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish. 23 The sky over your head will be bronze, the ground beneath you iron. 24 The Lord will turn the rain of your country into dust and powder; it will come down from the skies until you are destroyed.

25 The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will come at them from one direction but flee from them in seven, and you will become a thing of horror to all the kingdoms on earth. 26 Your carcasses will be food for all the birds and the wild animals, and there will be no one to frighten them away. 27 The Lord will afflict you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, festering sores and the itch, from which you cannot be cured. 28 The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind. 29 At midday you will grope about like a blind person in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

30 You will be pledged to be married to a woman, but another will take her and rape her. You will build a house, but you will not live in it. You will plant a vineyard, but you will not even begin to enjoy its fruit. 31 Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will eat none of it. Your donkey will be forcibly taken from you and will not be returned. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and no one will rescue them. 32 Your sons and daughters will be given to another nation, and you will wear out your eyes watching for them day after day, powerless to lift a hand. 33 A people that you do not know will eat what your land and labor produce, and you will have nothing but cruel oppression all your days. 34 The sights you see will drive you mad. 35 The Lord will afflict your knees and legs with painful boils that cannot be cured, spreading from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.

36 The Lord will drive you and the king you set over you to a nation unknown to you or your ancestors. There you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone. 37 You will become a thing of horror, a byword and an object of ridicule among all the peoples where the Lord will drive you.

38 You will sow much seed in the field but you will harvest little, because locusts will devour it. 39 You will plant vineyards and cultivate them but you will not drink the wine or gather the grapes, because worms will eat them. 40 You will have olive trees throughout your country but you will not use the oil, because the olives will drop off. 41 You will have sons and daughters but you will not keep them, because they will go into captivity. 42 Swarms of locusts will take over all your trees and the crops of your land.

43 The foreigners who reside among you will rise above you higher and higher, but you will sink lower and lower. 44 They will lend to you, but you will not lend to them. They will be the head, but you will be the tail.

45 All these curses will come on you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the Lord your God and observe the commands and decrees he gave you. 46 They will be a sign and a wonder to you and your descendants forever. 47 Because you did not serve the Lord your God joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity, 48 therefore in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.

49 The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old or pity for the young. 51 They will devour the young of your livestock and the crops of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine or olive oil, nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined. 52 They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the Lord your God is giving you.

53 Because of the suffering your enemy will inflict on you during the siege, you will eat the fruit of the womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters the Lord your God has given you. 54 Even the most gentle and sensitive man among you will have no compassion on his own brother or the wife he loves or his surviving children, 55 and he will not give to one of them any of the flesh of his children that he is eating. It will be all he has left because of the suffering your enemy will inflict on you during the siege of all your cities. 56 The most gentle and sensitive woman among you—so sensitive and gentle that she would not venture to touch the ground with the sole of her foot—will begrudge the husband she loves and her own son or daughter 57 the afterbirth from her womb and the children she bears. For in her dire need she intends to eat them secretly because of the suffering your enemy will inflict on you during the siege of your cities.

58 If you do not carefully follow all the words of this law, which are written in this book, and do not revere this glorious and awesome name—the Lord your God— 59 the Lord will send fearful plagues on you and your descendants, harsh and prolonged disasters, and severe and lingering illnesses. 60 He will bring on you all the diseases of Egypt that you dreaded, and they will cling to you. 61 The Lord will also bring on you every kind of sickness and disaster not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed. 62 You who were as numerous as the stars in the sky will be left but few in number, because you did not obey the Lord your God. 63 Just as it pleased the Lord to make you prosper and increase in number, so it will please him to ruin and destroy you. You will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess.

64 Then the Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known. 65 Among those nations you will find no repose, no resting place for the sole of your foot. There the Lord will give you an anxious mind, eyes weary with longing, and a despairing heart. 66 You will live in constant suspense, filled with dread both night and day, never sure of your life. 67 In the morning you will say, “If only it were evening!” and in the evening, “If only it were morning!”—because of the terror that will fill your hearts and the sights that your eyes will see. 68 The Lord will send you back in ships to Egypt on a journey I said you should never make again. There you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.

He's wrong. There are multiple verses referring to the Sabbath. NOT just the verses he quoted.

Also he (and you) completely misunderstand the verses. Rest - in this context does NOT mean he had a sleep and rested. It means he had finished creating the heavens and the Earth and rested FROM creation of new things. That was finished. Hence mankind who should learn from God and emulate God must also stop from creative activities. There are two Hebrew words for work. One means work - like as the example, "work like a dog". This is NOT the word that is used. God rested from all his "Malacha" which is translated as work - but it's not the same as "avodah". It means "creative activities".

So as I said - both of you are talking out of ignorance.

Another example: WHERE does it say that Jews say Jesus committed blasphemy? NOWHERE.

There is a big difference between entering a church - which Muslims also view as idolatrous in a strict sense - and saying Jesus was a blasphemer. That's a Christian accusation against Jews. Not a Jewish one.

As for the Jefferson Bible, Tolstoy and much of the remaining BS....

The Jefferson Quran was NOTHING to do with promoting Islam. It was aimed at CONVERTING Muslms. (Look it up).

Tolstoy converted to Judaism. (Just joking). However his writings about Jews are very positive. There is nothing like this on Islam and to the very end he was Christian. (Read "The Last Command" from 1909). https://hevria.com/leotolstoy/jew-leo-tolstoy/

As for sexual relations - of course incest is forbidden.

One thing you need to understand - for you to realise why Islam is wrong.
1) Islam was the religion propagated by Mohammed. He had to work to convert people to Islam. There was NO heavenly revelation from God to all the people or even a large number of people. The same with Christianity. It was "revealed" to a few - who then spread the word. How do we know that what they reveal is the truth. Answer - we don't. It could easily be false and both Islam and Christianity can't both be right although they CAN both be wrong.

You really fail to understand stuff. The bit about Moses writing his own obituary. The Jewish belief is that Moses is not the author of the Torah. God is the author, Moses was just the scribe who wrote what he was told to write.

Accordingly, the explanations for the final verses is that either it was Joshua who wrote what God told him to write, or Moses who wrote, in advance of his death, what God told him to write.

In fact this whole issue was raised in the Talmud 100s of years before Islam - which just proves how little you both know about Judaism and probably Christianity. It also shows pure stupidity to pontificate on stuff you do not know. That's what people do in insane asylums - not in sensible blogs.

Here's the translation of the Talmud passage. (Bava Batra 15a): Rabbi Yehuda said that the last 8 verses were written by Joshua after Moses's passing, and Rabbi Shimon said that the last 8 verses were written by Moses “The Holy One dictated and Moses transcribed in tears.”

So Jews didn't have Christ crucified?

AW said...

Of course not. Crucifixion is a Roman punishment for rising up against Rome. Have you never seen the film Spartacus. It's NOT Jewish and is against Jewish law - although not against Islam because Islam accepts immoral and cruel, devliish practices.

The Gospels are Christian Propaganda.

As for sexual relations - of course incest is forbidden.

1) Islam was the religion propagated by Mohammed. He had to work to convert people to Islam. There was NO heavenly revelation from God to all the people or even a large number of people. It could easily be false and both Islam and Christianity can't both be right although they CAN both be wrong.

2) Judaism is unique as the ONLY existing religion that was NOT founded on the basis of an individual revelation. It was founded on the principle of a national revelation where God spoke to the WHOLE people and not just one man.

This is important. Imagine that My great great great ....40 times grandfather heard this message, and somebody else said he'd got it wrong as he'd misheard. A third person could say "No - I heard the same thing". When 2m people hear the message, it's very difficult to pervert the message. When only one person hears it - as with Islam, it's a matter of trust and there's nobody who can check the story. Hence Islam is false - as cannot be proved. Judaism is true - as 2m heard the message.

The proof continues in the Bible prophecies that continue and can be read easily - as mentioned in the video. (Where are the Assyrians, Romans, Babylonians, Ancient Egyptians today.... gone. Jews remain. The Bible says Jews will be scattered throughout the world. It happened. The Bible says Jews will return to Israel (as does the Quran). It's happened. The Bible says Jerusalem will be rebuilt. It's happening today. And the desert will bloom and be farmed. It's happening today. The temple will also be rebuilt - but that's not yet happened.

BTW - another example of how you really fail to understand stuff. The bit about Moses writing his own obituary. The Jewish belief is that Moses is not the author of the Torah. God is the author, Moses was just the scribe who wrote what he was told to write.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanhedrin_trial_of_Jesus is the account of the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus.

AW said...

Again - you follow BS.

1) You are not using authentic Jewish sources - but the Gospels which for obvious reasons are biased against Judaism as they were written with the aim of appeasing the Romans. "In the New Testament, the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus refers to the trial of Jesus before the Sanhedrin (a Jewish judicial body) following his arrest in Jerusalem and prior to his dispensation by Pontius Pilate."

2) Any trial would never have allowed a death penalty - that was not done at that time. (I've said that before) and certainly not for what the gospels state he was tried for. Healing on the Sabbath is a command - if somebody is sick you can break ALL Jewish laws except idol worship, incest and murder. So failing to heal would be breaching the Sabbath laws. There were also several others (e.g. mentioned by Josephus) who claimed to be "King of the Jews" or a Messiah - who were crucified by the Romans. Jesus was not unique.

The article actually states "The idea that the 'day of preparation' begins on Thursday night, is thought by some to be an error due to the bias of later 'Christian' thought."

It IS possible that Jesus was tried for risking the Jewish people. If he was a revolutionary and making claims against Rome, he may have been tried to see if he was - and if so, handed over to Pilate as not doing so would have been very risky to all Jews. It was a criminal offense to Rome to claim to be above the Romans and publicising this would force the Sanhedrin to warn the person and if they refuse to listen to hand them to the Romans for punishment.

We can only go by the Christian account. Their account confirms the idolatry and blasphemy of Christianity.

Basically, Christians have been cursed by God for their idolatry and blasphemy. The best thing to happen now is for both the senior and junior branch of the Abrahamic faiths to point this out so they can take it out with the trash and bury its rotten stinking corpse.

I already know your Talmud says Christ is boiling in excrement for the idolatry and blasphemy he incited.

AW said...

Why have the Christians been cursed by God? Have you a direct line to what God is thinking? If so, then you must have more divinity than everybody else on Earth except those claiming also to know God's mine. There are words for people who claim to know God's mind: crazy is one; charlatan is another. Dangerous is a third. You choose which applies to you.

This is why Islamist terrorists are so dangerous. They claim to not only know God's mind but believe they are acting on behalf of God's wishes. This implies that God cannot act for Himself - and so is arrogance of an extreme degree. That's why they are so dangerous - they ignore logic and rationality. Do you include yourself in this set of people. Or are you just a charlatan or crazy?

1) We do not know for certain which, if any, references refer to Jesus "In the modern era there has been a variance of views among scholars of the possible references to Jesus in the Talmud, depending partly on presuppositions as to the extent to which the ancient rabbis were preoccupied with Jesus and Christianity"

2) The Talmud when it might be referring to Jesus is almost certainly written as polemic against the Gospels and so is as reliable (i.e. totally unreliable) as these.

3) You need to know why statements are there and the context

4) According to the Talmud, Jesus is in Heaven. Even if he had suffered the most extreme punishments in hell this would have only been for a maximum of a year before he went to heaven. Further, if he HAD been executed for blasphemy / idolatry then these sins would have been forgiven and he would have been viewed as blameless and clean.

You cannot trust Wikipedia for articles such as this as being authentic Jewish thought.

If Jews can be cursed horribly by God for disobedience to His laws, why not Christians?
http://rabbisacks.org/behar-bechukotai-5780/

The fact that Jews are forbidden to enter churches but allowed to enter mosques is evidence enough about what Jews think of Christian blasphemy and idolatry.

AW said...

Jews are not supposed to enter practicing Catholic churches. It's NOTHING to do with blasphemy. It's to do with statues of Jesus and Mary in the church. These aren't in Protestant Churches so this is less of an issue.

Even with Catholic churches, there are circumstances where Jews can go in them.

Yes, I know. https://www.yeshiva.co/ask/6517

AW said...

The Bible / Pentateuch describes the curses placed on Jews for not keeping God's laws. Christians are not bound by these laws and so the curses do not apply. There is nowhere in the Bible that mentions cursing Christians or Moslems EXCEPT possibly where the Noahide laws are breached (where they aren't cursed but would be punished). As both breach the Noahide laws in different ways - as I've told you before, both would be equality at risk.

In fact Moslems are at greater risk as it's less clear cut that Christians breach the Noahide laws. Any Moslem that follows or accepts Sharia law is at risk and definitely anybody who follows secular Koranism.

Claire Khaw said...

Islam is more Noahide than Christianity, surely?

Are you saying sharia breaches the Noahide laws?

AW said...

Christians are as guilty of blasphemy as Moslems are guilty of idol workship. And that is far from clear cut either.

Although Jews are allowed to enter a Mosque, Mecca is a different topic as the Kaabah is the remains of idol worship, and the throwing of stones at the Kaabah is definitely a form of recognition of idol worship. Muslims also bow down in ways that are forbidden as they do so to Mohammed.

Islam only meets 4 of the 7 Noahide Commandments. It fails on these 3: : Idol Worship, Theft, & Murder.

On Idol Worship, Moslems circuambulate al Qa'aba 7 times while doing their best to embrace & kiss the stone. In Pagan Mecca the Qa'aba was the abode of the polythestic deitied worshipped by Arabs. The black meteorite was an idol representing their chief diety, that of the moon and its name was, "Allah."

On murder, upon gaining asylum in al Yathrib (Medina) at the end of al Hijra Muhammad began murdering left & right. At times his rationale was as simple as a poem that he thought insulted him. For example, Abu Afaq. The man was elderly and wrote poetry. Muhammad dispatched Salim ibn Umeir. ibn Umeir infiltrated Abu Afaq's home abd ran his sword through the man as he slept. (See: Sirat Rasul Allah" (The Life of the Prophet of God))

On theft a great example is al Yathrib itself. As noted above Muhammad and his band of followers sought & received asylum. His tribe, al Qureish, planned to murder him for having disrespected Mecca's idols and in doing so seriously threatened al Qureish's income from being guards & caretakers of al Qa'aba.

So Muslims revere a thief and murderer.

Muhammed was also guilty of incest. He married and had sex with his biological aunt (his father’s sister).

Claire Khaw said...

Whatever the Messenger of God was supposed to have done, Muslims do not worship Muhammad as the co-equal of Hashem.

AW said...

Which is why Islam is less idolatrous than Catholicism. That still does not make it good!

Claire Khaw said...

Noahide ranking of the other four world religions

1) Islam - most Noahide because of its strict monotheism
2) Buddhism - not as Noahide because it is an atheist philosophy
3) Hinduism - actually idolatrous because it does have a pantheon of deities
4) Christianity - most offensive to the Noahide laws because of its Supreme Blasphemy of worshipping an executed revolutionary as the co-equal of Hashem
