An exclusive party

"From 1973, Xi Jinping applied to join the Communist Party of China ten times and was finally accepted on his tenth attempt in 1974."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xi_Jinping

Does this sound like the kind of exclusive party you would like your state to have in order for you to enjoy better government?

Is China really doing that badly compared to liberal democracies?

Isn't the reason why China is doing so well compared to liberal democracies precisely because it concentrates the political talent of China into one party minimising waste of political talent, time and energy?

And didn't Putin say in 2019 that liberalism is now "obsolete"?
