The liberty of liberalism

Liberty is what we ought to have after all the necessary laws are in place. We are not yet agreed on what the necessary laws are. If we believe in God, then we would know want to obey His laws in the Torah or the Koran. If we deny God, then we would want to make up our own and call our legal system Communism, Liberalism, Fascism, Nazism etc, but Liberalism is just stuff Western governments have done and are doing, without any attempt at analysis or critical self-examination. Being liberal is the equivalent of worshipping all you have ever done in your past and sacralising your beliefs and practices.

President Putin said in 2019 that liberalism was "obsolete". To my surprise, this did not generate any debate in the political establishment at all. It was as if they collectively shrugged their shoulders and said:

"So what? We never believed in it anyway. We just use the label because we know it is the political orthodoxy of our times. To make ourselves politically established and intellectually respectable, we cloak our beliefs, policies and actions in liberalism because it is generally agreed that liberalism is a good thing, even if its principles were never properly stated, agreed on or properly practised. The peasants are too stupid, ignorant and lazy to notice. If they do and question liberal policies, they would be denounced as Far Right, fascist, racist, sexist, extremist and terrorist and in this way would we demonise and marginalise our critics who would be denounced as heretics to our sacred religion of liberalism. We have all the apparatus of state to crush terrorists and terrorism"

The Austrian empire was destroyed by its incorrect response to an act of terrorism resulting in the First World War. The Second World War was a continuation of the First World War and led to the Americans inheriting a global empire they were too immature to run properly, which explains their great anxiety and distress when they become aware that old empires like Iran, Russia and China are looking on aghast that the sham of democracy has lasted so long and wondering how it will end for the West if they continue ignoring the problems of liberal democracy. The most urgent problem is that of incompetent and corrupt leaders being elected into office and doing nothing to govern in the national interest, of public intellectuals being too afraid to engage in this debate and the media refusing to facilitate this debate.
