- Women between the age of 16 to 20 will be registered at the Registry of Spinsters.
- Their marriageability will be determined according to her reputation. Being an unmarried teen mother would obviously damage her reputation.
- The marriageability of men would be determined by their educational qualifications, vocational training and future prospects.
- A reputation for being honest, reasonable and principled would make candidates more marriageable.
- Unmarriageable candidates would be given remedial classes in marriageability eg classes in domestic science, retaking exams they failed as students, addressing any mental health issues, character defects and learning disabilities they may have.
- The couple cannot marry without having first agreed to the marriage contract.
- The marriage contract can be pro forma or bespoke for wealthier marriage partners.
- Divorce will be a breach of the term of the marriage contract.
- All marriage contracts will be registered at the Registry of Marriage Contracts.
- The wedding ceremony cannot be complete without two witnesses one of whom must be appointed a Friend of the Marriage who would be the couple's first port of call when they have a matrimonial dispute they cannot resolve on their own. The role of the Friend of the Marriage would be to defend the marriage rather than side with either party to the marriage. The role is that of a marriage counsellor protecting the marriage.
- The Friend of the Marriage can be dismissed if both spouses agree and another appointed by mutual agreement of the couple.
- Married couples would have a Diary of the Marriage to enter their version of events when their are matrimonial disputes so that a history of the marriage would be available for examination by the Matrimonial Disputes Tribunal and the Matrimonial Disputes Appeal Tribunal. It would work like Google Docs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Docs
- If it is a matter that cannot be resolved by the Friend of the Marriage, the next port of call is the Matrimonial Disputes Tribunal.
- If the matrimonial dispute cannot be resolved by the Matrimonial Disputes Tribunal, it would be come before the Matrimonial Disputes Appeal Tribunal where it can be finally resolved or a divorce granted.
- Even if the divorce is amicable and neither party blame each other, fault will be apportioned at 50/50 because both parties have clearly married the wrong person because their marriage failed.
- If the couple have children, the children will be with their mother until they are seven whereupon they will go to their father.
THE VOICE OF REASON Solon, (born c. 630 BCE—died c. 560 BCE), Athenian statesman, known as one of the Seven Wise Men of Greece (the others were Chilon of Sparta, Thales of Miletus, Bias of Priene, Cleobulus of Lindos, Pittacus of Mytilene, and Periander of Corinth). Solon ended exclusive aristocratic control of the government, substituted a system of control by the wealthy, and introduced a new and more humane law code. He was also a noted poet.
