THE VOICE OF REASON
Solon, (born c. 630 BCE—died c. 560 BCE), Athenian statesman, known as one of the Seven Wise Men of Greece (the others were Chilon of Sparta, Thales of Miletus, Bias of Priene, Cleobulus of Lindos, Pittacus of Mytilene, and Periander of Corinth). Solon ended exclusive aristocratic control of the government, substituted a system of control by the wealthy, and introduced a new and more humane law code. He was also a noted poet.

Mormons, officially members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, view Jesus Christ as the central figure of their faith. They believe He is the Son of God, the Savior, and the Redeemer of the world. According to their teachings, Jesus is divine, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, performed miracles, atoned for humanity’s sins in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, died, and was resurrected. They see His atonement as enabling salvation and eternal life for all who follow Him.
Mormons also believe Jesus is a distinct personage with a glorified, physical body, separate from God the Father, who also has a physical body, and the Holy Ghost, who is a spirit. This contrasts with traditional Christian Trinitarian views. They teach that Jesus created the earth under the Father’s direction and will return to reign during the Second Coming.
Their scriptures—the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price—all testify of Jesus’ divine role. Mormons strive to follow His teachings and example, emphasizing a personal relationship with Him through prayer, repentance, and ordinances like baptism.
