However, we would be wrong in thinking that we now live in a post-truth society. If that is true, when did the era of post-truth begin?
It is certainly arguable that Christians have been post-truth since the 4th century and are now having difficulties acknowledging that they have been force-fed ideas that are mortally threatening to the repose of their immortal souls if God exists to punish anyone for anything eg idolatry.

The most powerful church in the world - the Anglican Church - is now riven by schism with GAFCON who reject the authority of the English in England to tell them what to do now that they have a female Archbishop of Canterbury known to be promoting the policies of Sodom and Gomorrah.
The purpose of the Church was always to defend the divine right of kings ie absolute monarchs. It is for this reason that I keep pointing out to Europeans on both sides of the Atlantic that both absolute monarchy - thanks to the Founding Fathers - is now an anachronism.
This makes Christianity an anachronism supporting an anachronism.
Are anachronisms dangerous? Yes, and I will explain how and why when there is someone in TLC prepared to listen and ask any logically occurring next question to show that they understand and are in some way interested in getting to the bottom of the matter, instead of fleeing from their moral imperative.

If that is the standard measure of Christianity, then I, too, am a Cultural Christian because I know the order of service of Trinitarianism in Christian denominations that supposedly worship the Trinity.
Do people calling themselves Christian really believe Jesus is God ie worship the Trinity?
Most importantly, do they believe that good will be rewarded and evil punished in this world and the next? If they do not, then they are atheist or agnostic. Why do they identify as Christian? For social, career and political reasons. At the most, it is only a cultural affiliation and never a moral conviction. If Christians had the moral conviction that the Trinity is true and all non-Christians go to hell, they would not tolerate liberalism. As it was, liberalism easily defeated Christianity. Whig history is the sacred liberal narrative.
Christianity has had a long history of failure, and it is astounding that Westerners do not have a historian who has written a book on its long unbroken track record of failure. Edward Gibbon attributed the fall of Rome to Christianity, but no one seems to know this or is prepared to discuss this.
The American Republic represents the first attempt by Europeans to distance themselves from Christianity resulting in the end of Christendom in 1918.
Astoundingly, no one has noticed, and no one will be told. They either do not understand what I am saying, or affect not to understand even as they complain about the increasing corruption and incompetence of their ruling classes.
You would have thought they would be prepared to have an extended conversation about this, and ask the logical next question. Perhaps they already know the answer, and do not want to go there.
