Can scientific development and innovation push the economic recovery forward? The authors of a new report "Big Potatoes: The London Manifesto for innovation" believe so. Launched at the Royal Society the report highlights how there is currently very little debate in society about research and development. It has become socially acceptable not to know about science, argue the authors, and this change in public and political attitude is stifling economic recovery as well as limiting future innovation and therefore the creation of new industries and jobs for the future. Quentin is joined by one of the reports co-authors Professor James Woudhuysen and the former vice-president of the Royal Society, Sir Martin Taylor.

Looks like the British are well f*cked then.

British scientists now think that asking people what photos they prefer using to represent themselves on their Facebook profiles as they get older is science. Apparently, as people get older they shy away from showing photographs of themselves and show pictures of objects, landscapes, gatherings etc.

Something to do with the middle-age spread, double chins, balding pates, greying hair and wrinkles, I'll wager.

These idiot programme-makers think asking girly questions that wouldn't look out of place in a woman's magazine is science!

No doubt it is all part of their agenda to attract girls into doing science.

These girly-men who collude in this exercise of the feminisation and dumbing-down of science should be ashamed of themselves.

British "Edukayshun" - why dumbing-down continues apace

Science exams with no mathematical content. More sex education at ever younger ages. More cookery lessons. Is the government trying to turn us into a country of maids or prostitutes and people stupid enough to keep voting for them again and again?

Will single mothers have their variously-fathered children exported abroad as pets for rich Africans who want to adopt a white baby because they are so cute, with their blond hair and blue eyes? I think we should be told.

Perhaps they will soon be having lap dancing lessons at schools or acting lessons for those who want to train for a career in porn. Soon the women of this country will be using their vaginas to shoot peas out of shooters, just as they do in Thai sex shows.

Dumbing-down and teaching them cookery, and turning our boys into cooking catamites and our girls into maids and sex workers is surely cheaper and easier than teaching them anything as inconvenient as science and maths, or languages and literature.

If our boys tried drug-dealing they might have difficulty working out the change and the quantities to be sold, and then they will get upset and cry and have to be comforted. Better not then.

Zamyatin wrote a number of short stories, in fairy tale form, that constituted satirical criticism of the Communist regime in Russia, such as in a story about a city where the mayor decides that to make everyone happy he should make everyone equal. He starts by forcing everyone, himself included, to live in a big barrack, then to shave heads to be equal to the bald, and then to become mentally disabled to equate intelligence downward.

Anyone who has had a run-in with the powers that be in charge of British state-"education" may have an eerie moment of self-recognition.
