Should white male soldiers be made to sacrifice their lives so that the matriarchal West can impose feminism on the Afghans?

Top Afghanistan female police officer dies

Has feminism been good to white male soldiers?

Has feminism been good for white men?

Has feminism been good for white women?

Has feminism been good for the West?

Is the West like a rabid dog let loose upon the world?

Yup, the Afghan conflict was clearly all about feminism. Nothing to do with oil, nothing to do with 9/11, nothing to do with the West desperately trying to stem the rise of extremism in the Middle East, definitely just a feminist conspiracy. Damn those wicked feminists forcing Afghan women to demand to be treated as humans, forcing those poor misunderstood Taliban chappies to shoot them dead. Naughty feminists!

It is indeed about taking their land, their natural resources and making them live by the West's rules. Are you surprised they hate it?

It's feminism that is behind the West's imperialism? And you don't think the Taliban was persecuting women before the invasion of Afghanistan? Women are regarded as less than human according the Taliban's interpretation of the quran (not shared by the majority of muslims I stress), please don't tell me you side with the Taliban, I had you pegged as an anti-feminist not a misogynist.

I side with anyone who has had their country invaded.

Must be nice to see the world in such simple terms.

Why did the West invade Afghanistan?

snork maiden said...

It wasn't my decision, you'll have to ask Tony Blair.

So you support the invasion of Afghanistan, though you don't know why it was invaded?

No, I was very much opposed to the invasion of Afghanistan, I took part in demonstrations against it at the time. But just because I opposed the war does not mean I support the Taliban who, as I'm sure you're aware, seized power in Afghanistan during the aftermath of Soviet occupation and were never democratically elected.

You opposed the invasion of Afghanistan but cannot understand Afghans taking steps to make the invaders feel unwelcome? What a confused person you are!

I'm not the one who believes the Afghan invasion was a feminist conspiracy, as opposed to an ill thought out attempt to stem the rise of Islamic extremism and maintain control over oil reserves, while being seen to take revenge over 9/11. The Afghan people and the Taliban are not indivisible, many Afghan people don't want the Taliban and have been violently oppressed by them and their narrow interpretation of the Quran. To voice support for the actions of the Taliban, is not to voice sympathy for the Afghan people, it sounds like your stance is to support anyone who is against the West, the Taliban were an oppressive, unelected regime who are now seeking to oppress anyone who doesn't subscribe to their beliefs.
I was opposed to the war because I didn't think it could achieve it's apparent objectives, and that the invasion would only foster Islamic extremism in the long run. Encouraging women to regain some of their rights which were taken away by the Taliban might be the only good thing to come out of this. But don't worry, as soon as the West pulls out women will back in their burkas, denied education, dying in childbirth without access to doctors, denied employment, executed upon the remotest suspicion of unchastity and widows without men to accompany them outside their homes can quietly starve to death once more. Like I said, it must be nice to see the world so simply.

I am making the point that invading Afghanistan was wrong on so many levels.

Are you saying it was a good idea to make the Afghans have policewomen in their police force?

snork maiden said...

'Make' them have policewomen? Do you think it's a bad idea to allow Afghan women to train to be police officers if that's what they want to do?

Claire Khaw said...

I think it is a very bad idea as well as extremely cruel to encourage women into doing something that will end them up being killed, don't you?
