Why I am agnostic

I am an agnostic and as such have made it a point never to debate with anyone whether God exists. There are far more immediate and important things to discuss as a moral and political philosopher.  It is enough that:

1) the concept of God exists

2) many people want to believe in God even if they are not sure that He exists

3) governments find God useful to protect the patriarchy because the combination of belief in Him and obedience to His laws would produce enough good strong men capable of defending the national interest through instinctively defending the patriarchal moral values of their society

Seneca:

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful."

Even if Christians started singing from the same hymn sheet, Islam would still be more believable
