Depression is probably a growing pain

Faith is a choice. Since the existence of God can neither be conclusively proven nor denied to those who hold the opposite view, the probability of His existence must necessarily and logically be viewed as 50/50. This being the case, belief in God is not intellectually dubious and does not therefore make you a minority in absolute and rational terms, even if most of the idiots and ignoramuses around you are arrogant atheists. Once you are prepared to entertain the possibility of His existence, you would naturally wish to understand the Nature and Purpose of God, and this can be best understood through knowing and understanding the Nature and Purpose of His laws and the evils they were created to discourage. Once this is done, you will never suffer depression again.

Really?

I am not saying you will never feel sad, bad and mad again if bad stuff happens to you, but you are unlikely to suffer the kind of free-floating anxiety you felt in your youth of being unanchored and untethered to anything at all, as if one were the flotsam and jetsam in the detritus of life. Even the apparent certainty of dying and going to hell will seem less frightening once you are clear in your own mind that you understand the rules and are doing your very best to follow them, albeit with the occasional lapse.

At your strongest once you have absorbed this idea, you might consider bungee-jumping into the abyss and living in it for a while just to see what happens.

Depression, dementia, atheism and A NEW NATIONAL RELIGION!

Hark at the journos and politicians prating about dementia, depression and the parlous state of mental health the British are in.

My solution would be to disestablish the Church of England and invite tenders from various religious organisations so that a new religion that is better for the long-term national interest of the British Nation can be established.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am under the impression that people's mental health tend to improve when they think someone who is Omniscient, Eternal and Omnipotent is their Best Friend.

Perhaps even I could help by developing further the idea of Secular Koranism? It is a synthesis of philosophy and religion combined into a distinct and cohesive ideology. It asserts that the Koran is a good enough guide, even for those who do not believe in God.

The Cult of Reason and Supreme Being ("CORASB")

The practice of submitting to Truth, Reason and Reality (if that is what God is, if God exists) is capable of both being a philosophy and a religion.

To start a Cult of Reason and The Supreme Being that is mutually indivisible is therefore logically possible and politically desirable.

My take on global warming

It doesn't matter if it is natural or synthetic global warming. We shouldn't pay tax on it because what we should do is consume less, stay home, live frugally and avoid going shopping unless absolutely necessary.

But this would be the equivalent of a recession/depression, so the government would rather bail-out banks, make us borrow money we don't have to buy things we don't want, than get off the carousel of consumerism.

While we are doing as they want, they are going to tax us till the pips squeak in the name of the environment and make future generations pay for the folly of the banks and the uselessness of the government in failing to prevent this quite predictable folly.

Just as long as you understand:

IT DOES NOT MATTER IF GLOBAL WARMING IS NATURAL OR MAN-MADE; WE SHOULD NOT BE PAYING TAX ON IT.
