People who confuse race with nationality tend to be not the brightest or best educated of people and have trouble understanding abstract ideas.

Race is something about yourself you cannot change (unless you are Michael Jackson and prepared to have cosmetic surgery.

Nationality is something you can acquire or lose, like your passport(s). Some people have more than one, someone people don't even have one.

Marriage and Civilisation

When we desecrate marriage we lose our traditions.

When we lose our traditions, we lose our memory.

When we lose our memory, we lose our mind.

When we lose our mind, we are held in contempt by other races and nations.

We suffer dementia when we say it is OK for women to be SSMs.

A definition of the National Interest , the Nation and Nationalism

The only thing that should matter for those who call themselves nationalists is whether something is for or against the national interest.

My definition of the national interest is the long term good of the nation. 

The nation consists of different groups within which there are competing interests to be wisely and fairly balanced.


It is a matter of practical politics as to whom one includes and excludes from being a member of that nation.  


Ethno-nationalism is a contradiction in terms for it is, as far as I can see, but tribalism and racial preference.  It is not working in Israel, the caste system (also based on birth origins) in India is socially divisive and pernicious, and apartheid did not work in South Africa.  The writing is therefore on the wall for these morally bankrupt ideologies who are only promoted by those who are "well born".  


Britain is still a white majority country and so whatever benefits the majority of white people could be said to be in the National Interest.

In my view, the policies that would most benefit the nation would be policies crafted to encourage the lower middle classes, ie those who aspire and those with a work ethic.  This would include the small independent businessmen, the man in the white van, the Asian owner of your local corner shop.  Policies that favour trade unions and big business are therefore against the national interest.  

This would mean a meritocratic educational system that is keen for excellence to flourish  rather than one that has an ideological imperative to impose equality of failure while hiding the failure of education in this country.  This would mean selective education, the end of mixed ability teaching, and the rigorous implementation of streaming according to ability.  


This will make the Liberal Left gnash their teeth, rend their garments and tear their hair, but we need to tell them in no uncertain terms where to go and which of their orifices they can stuff their toxic ideology up. 

The way forward is reasonably clear. To me anyway. 

Birth and Belonging: Personal, National and Ethnic Identity

A fascinating symposium demonstrating that the Chinese are also whingeing about not knowing what they are and what they are supposed to be.

Obviously, the Chinese are not what they were, ie in pigtails, concubines, bound feet etc.

But what are they now? Is it a race thing or nation thing?

In Taiwan they have a better idea of ancient Chinese traditions.

On the mainland they are modern individual barbarians: godless, consumerist, mostly without relations, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, little emperors who will probably euthanase their parents if they hang around too long.

(The Chinese were once known for their filial piety.)

Identity, at any rate, is something that can be

1. performed
2. claimed
   
3. fought over

Identity is what those with a weak sense of identity seek to establish. The lack of it is most painful at adolescence, impelling some to become suicide bombers as an assertion of an identity they have chosen to embrace.

Let us therefore universalise this pain in a world with an embarrassment of riches as to the kinds of identities we could embrace.

The factors affecting identity are:

9. gender

11. talent
12. reputation
13. occupation
    
14. associates
15. current place of residence
16. where our heart is

I could go on and on, but ultimately, we all have multiple identities.

Our identity depends on who is asking, why they want to know, where we are and the social context in which the question is being asked.

They are shifting all the time.

What a shame that members of BNP - for whom such a symposium would be so enlightening, would never dream of attending such an event.

That is because they are working class and lower middle class, who are conservative people who would unhesitatingly say things "I don't know much about art, but I know what I like."

They are unimaginative people who like being with their own kind even as they are unkind to their own kind.

They are right, up to a point, that a mono-racial nation is visually comforting, but forget that people of the same race will soon find differences to kill each other over. History is littered with endless examples.

There was an exercise in which someone would be asked to copy from a picture, another would copy from that person's drawing and yet another would do the same etc.

This exercise made me think of Chinese whispers and out of control cancer cells dividing, not stopping, not doing what they are supposed to do.

The result could be more interesting, perhaps, if the artist, Yuen Fong Ling, had made a participant draw a self-portrait of himself and had someone else copy the result etc.

It was one of the many demonstrations about how deracinated and inauthentic the British and overseas Chinese are.

The concept of Chinese identity is paradoxically stronger in a non-Chinese, even if mistaken. It is after all the non-Chinese, who say very confidently that the Chinese are this, that or the other.

The Taiwanese think they are the real thing because they have been protected from the unChinese characteristics of Communism, while the mainlanders think they are The Real Thing, whatever they have turned into.

Even now we no don't really know what we are, what we could become or what we ought to be.

Perhaps too much choice is confusing, unsettling and upsetting.

This partly explains why Muslim youth who blow themselves up do what they do. They live on as Islamist terrorists, which was the identity they actively embraced and must have known would establish their post mortem reputation. They lived and died with this certainty.

Our identity is what we really are, what we want to be, and how others see us. Only if they are in harmony will we be happy in our skins.

The British White People's Party

Tomorrow is St Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year and the day on which the British National Party will vote on their constitution.

Under the compulsion of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, they have to allow non-whites into their party.

They will have to excise clause 3.2.2 (against what they would call miscegenation or anti-race mixing) which has been declared illegal:

"We stand for the preservation of the national and ethnic characteristics of all indigenous peoples in their own homelands throughout the world. We are implacably opposed to the promotion by any means of any form of integration or assimilation of any indigenous peoples, including the Indigenous British, which is or is likely to deprive any such people of their integrity as a distinct people or the distinctiveness of their cultural values or of their ethnic or national identities or characteristics. We are therefore each duty bound, as our own consciences shall dictate, to oppose the promotion of any form integration or assimilation which is or is likely to have such an effect on the Indigenous British."

If I were the Equalities Commission setting out to persecute these anti-misceganists and racial separatists, I would just have left them to themselves. It is after all their right not to mix with anyone they don't wish to mix with, however offensive it is to the rest of us.

I would however draw attention to the fact that they have misunderstood the concept of Nation and Nationhood. Both are abstract ideas and cannot be seen, only understood in the same way we understand pleasure and pain, order and chaos and other such abstract concepts.

I would forbid them from mis-using the term "National" or "Nationalist" any further and demand that they change their name to the British White People's Party.

This is after all what they are and what they want to be.

BNP says Black Britons and Asian Britons do not exist

British National Party (BNP) chairman Nick Griffin has defended a party leaflet which says that black Britons and Asian Britons "do not exist".

The BNP's "Language and Concepts Discipline Manual" says the term used should be "racial foreigners".

In a BBC interview, Mr Griffin said to call such people British was a sort of "bloodless genocide" because it denied indigenous people their own identity.

The BNP manual, leaked to the anti-fascist group Searchlight and seen by the BBC, says that "BNP activists and writers should never refer to 'black Britons' or 'Asian Britons' etc, for the simple reason that such persons do not exist".

"These people are 'black residents' of the UK etc, and are no more British than an Englishman living in Hong Kong is Chinese.

"Collectively, foreign residents of other races should be referred to as 'racial foreigners', a non-pejorative term... The key in such matters is above all to maintain necessary distinctions while avoiding provocation and insult."

The manual describes the BNP's "ultimate aim" as the "lawful, humane and voluntary repatriation of the resident foreigners of
the UK".

Commenting on the leaflet's content, Mr Griffin told The Report
on Radio 4 that although "in civic terms they are British, British also has a meaning as an ethnic description".

"We don't subscribe to the politically correct fiction that just because they happen to be born in Britain, a Pakistani is a Briton. They're not; they remain of Pakistani stock.

"You can't say that especially large numbers of people can come from the rest of the world and assume an English identity without denying the English their own identity, and I would say that's wrong," he added.

"In a very subtle way, it's a sort of bloodless genocide."

I have said elsewhere that the BNP have persistently confused race with nation, simply because they like to think there is no difference, forgetting that white Britons are really just former invaders who have forgotten that their ancestors too were formerly invaders, descended from the Vikings, Angles, Normands and other white groups who arrived here as refugees such as the Huguenots.

(The raping and pillaging Vikings must have been regarded with horror greater than modern Britons regard Muslims. Yet, everywhere, now you see the word "Viking" being used as a brand for office suppliers - http://www.viking-direct.co.uk/, dry cleaners etc.

The descendants of Ancient Britons are now holed up in Wales and Cornwall, hating the English and wanting to turf them out too. Cornish nationalism is real. Hatred of country folk of townies buying up rural houses is real.)

Perhaps a more historic view should be taken.

The BNP are clearly not aware that it is a historical inevitability that the invaders will in turn and in time be invaded themselves if their foreign, domestic, economic and social policies result in the weakening of the nation, whoever this concept includes.

Any dictionary would confirm that "race" is not the same as "nation".

One is a description of physical characteristics, the other an abstract concept.

Of course you cannot become Chinese no matter how long you live in China or Hongkong, because you cannot change your racial characteristics, unless you are Michael Jackson.

However, you can be a Chinese national without even going there if you are given a Chinese passport. When that happens, then any blonde-haired, blue-eyed white man holding such a passport would have to be accepted as such by all the Immigration Officers in the world.

I have suggested elsewhere that white Britons could call themselves IC1 English, IC1 Scots or IC1 Welsh, for example. The Police use race identification codes to identify supects, ie

IC1 for someone of Caucasian appearance, eg white-skinned European types - English, Scottish, Welsh, Scandinavian and Russian

IC2 for Mediterranean, eg dark-skinned European types - Sardinian, Spanish, Italian

IC3 for Afro-Caribbean, eg Negroid types - Caribbean, West Indian, African, Nigerian

IC4 for Asian, eg Indians and Pakistanis

IC5 for Oriental, eg Chinese, Japanese, Mongolians, Siamese

IC6 for Arabians, Egyptians, Algerians, Moroccans and North Africans

Then the white British race would have their own special group identity (which no one can hijack) and be happier bunnies.

St George's Day in Trafalgar Square - BNP mayoral candidate as St George

How mongrelised we are now, everyone and everywhere! The sight of a British Nationalist wearing the flag of St George as sarong just like a Malay, as I saw him heading towards All Bar One in Leicester Square with his companions after the BNP procession in Trafalgar Square, was bemusing to say the least. There was even a skinhead who more typifies the mental image of a National Fronter or British nationalist most people have of the “Far Right” - but he was perfectly pleasant when I asked him to turn his head so that his tattoos could be photographed to greater advantage.

My crystal ball is not giving me a clear picture as to whether British nationalism is a force for good or evil, but it has been awakened and will no longer be quiet, as the increased support for the BNP is showing and will continue to show. It will have to be managed very carefully by those within the party and those of us outside it who find quite a few of their policies appealing. At any rate it will have the effect of making politics a little more interesting, which must be a Good Thing, as I run an opinion-polling direct democracy website - http://www.1party4all.co.uk/ that runs on a paradox of unity and diversity. (Yes, it is a virtal one-party state that I run as my very own fiefdom. All are compelled to think independently ...)

British Nationalism is a misnomer and nonsense if it equates nationality with race, surely? There is a difference between race and nation. One is how you look, the other is where you think you belong, what you do and how you think. Nation transcends race - being a concept, while race is just a set of physical characteristics - they are not mutually interchangeable, as the BNP apparently believe.

The unexpectedness of an Afro-Caribbean who wanted to be in on the picture was a delicious irony. I do not know if he knew with whom he was being photographed, but Richard Barnbrook was obviously delighted at this unexpected turn of events.

The BNP mayoral candidate as St George on a white charger was a crowd-pleaser, though it was quite a small crowd. When it merged with the over-priced British Food Festival in Trafalgar Square it was in effect swallowed up, so to speak. A jousting competition in St James’s Park with the mayoral candidates as contestants would have been the perfect entertainment on a sunny spring afternoon.
