A strange message has been issued by the Party’s ‘elections Department’ relating to this year’s Party Leadership election as follows:
http://www.bnp.org.uk/news/bnp-leadership-election-%E2%80%94-official-statement
This statement makes a number of unconstitutional claims that will be accordingly be ignored. The most significant relates to nomination forms.
The constitution does not state that the Party centre or the ‘elections Department’ will issue nomination papers or the exact form they are to take. It merely states that a candidate for the post of Chairman must obtain the signatures of 20% of the members with over 24 calendar months continuous membership.
We have issued a suitable nomination form below.
I agree to nominate Eddy Butler as a candidate for the British National Party leadership election for 2010
Please return completed sheets as soon as possible (but by 20th July) to:
Leadership Contest, P.O. Box 287, Waltham Cross EN8 8ZU.
It does not matter if the sheet isn’t full. Only fully paid up members with two years continuous membership as of 1st July 2010 may sign the form.

The ‘elections Department‘ has presumed to issue this unconstitutional statement:
“Official nomination forms will be sent to each Member and Voting Member eligible to nominate/vote in such an election, and will have to be returned by post to be received between 20 July and noon of 10 August. It is recommended that such forms are sent by registered or recorded delivery mail.”
They are trying to get members to send their nomination papers directly to them. This is a disgusting abuse of process, similar to the sort of thing one would expect in Soviet occupied Eastern Europe. I am afraid to say that the Party centre has so far acted in an appalling manner so far with regard to this year’s leadership election. They are bugging gatherings, closing down branch meetings, sacking officials and even suspending the membership of people who support a leadership challenge. The idea that people should send their nomination papers to Clive Jefferson’s Elections Department is nothing short of outrageous and can only be viewed as an attempt to derail the Party’s internal democratic process.
DO NOT SEND YOUR FORMS TO THEM. IF YOU WISH TO NOMINATED EDDY BUTLER AS A CANDIDATE IN THIS YEAR’S ELECTION FOR THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BRITISH NATIONAL PARTY THEN PLEASE USE THE NOMINATION FORM ATTACHED AND SEND IT WITH AS MANY SIGNATURES OF MEMBERS WITH TWENTY FOUR MONTHS CONTINUOUS MEMBERSHIP TO P.O. BOX 287, WALTHAM CROSS EN8 8ZU.
WE WILL HAND ALL THE SIGNATURES IN TOGETHER ONCE WE HAVE OBTAINED THE REQUIRED NUMBER. WE ALSO RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT USE THEIR FORM.
Number of signatures
The Party has announced that we need to obtain the signatures of 840 members who have twenty four months continuous membership. This is quite a few less than expected.
They have also stated that there are only 278 voting members and so the signatures of only 56 voting members are also required. A voting member can also sign as a twenty four months member. How they have calculated the figure of 278 is any bodies guess as no register of voting members has ever been kept.
Nick Cass for Deputy Chairman
Former Yorkshire Regional Organiser and Party Manager Nick Cass has been announced as Eddy Butler’s running mate as Deputy Chairman. Nick is a tremendously popular activist and is a welcome addition to our team.
Coincidentally Simon Darby has just resigned as Party Deputy Chairman and we wish him well.
