Shekhovtsov [Ukrainian academic Anton Shekhovtsov, who studies the country's far-right] said Lapshyn was by all accounts a "shy, polite, normal guy" with no links to extremist groups in Ukraine, a view confirmed by West Midlands police.

Lapshyn was part of Ukraine's Russian linguistic minority. Shekhovtsov says extremist material started to appear on Lapshyn's social media pages after he murdered Saleem. The extremist groups he cites are Russian in origin: "Before Birmingham, there is no evidence of rightwing material on his website."

Just before Lapshyn was due to travel to the UK his mother was left seriously injured after a car accident. Police can find nothing in the details of the case – the others involved were white – to offer any insight into why he became so hellbent on murder once he arrived in Britain.

It was probably a bit of a shock for him to see so many Muslims if there are no Muslims at all in the Ukraine, and have to live amongst them somehow.

Perhaps if he had to go and live in Pakistan or Bangladesh and had agreed to go there he would not have had such a bad reaction.

He came to Britain thinking he was going to live amongst the English but found himself living amongst Asians and Muslims instead. It affected the balance of his mind, clearly.

He could have just moved out of the area, but he did not.  Perhaps he saw what he thought was the subjection of the white race by the brown race and could not bear it.  Perhaps he thought he was doing his race a favour.  Who knows?  It was very interesting that he put his hands up to it straight away and didn't plead insanity, depression, stress, disability or a bad childhood as you would expect the typical modern Englishman to do. How to attract more delegates and publicity to the UKIP conference in Birmingham

Here is an idea that may attract more UKIP members to attend their conference in Birmingham.

The best and brightest UKIP delegates pretend to be liberal BBC journalists.

I pretend to be UKIP leader and field all the questions.

UKIP membership decided whether or not to make me leader there and then on the strength of my performance.

If you do that, my UKIP possums, there will be more journalists there to report on the event.

UKIP declines to admit Claire Khaw to their September Conference in Birmingham

This was all too predictable.

However, any UKIP member is free to get in touch with me to discuss what it is to be done about the incorrigible cowardice of the UKIP leadership.

If enough of them want to meet me in Birmingham, I am still prepared to make the trip. The important thing is that they push for the repeal of the Equality Act 2010 at conference, and promote this to the voters of Corby in November, whether I am there or not.

Maggie Chapman, who is not even attending the conference and who dislikes me because I keep pointing out that she is morally compromised because of her four illegitimate grandchildren as regards supporting the institution of marriage has told me that "Lisa Duffy is on to it", which I take to mean "Lisa Duffy will do everything within her power to prevent your attendance and will have instructions to have you shot on sight."

Lisa Duffy is on the NEC and also Mayoress of Ramsey Town Council.

It is possible that Lisa will not approve of my views on feminism and may seek to unilaterally seek to prevent my attendance. I therefore hope that the men who wish to see me there and who are alarmed at the way so many women wield their power irresponsibly will see to it that she does not get her way, if it is indeed the case that most of the NEC http://www.ukip.org/page/ukip-nec and the members would prefer to have me there than not.

My real purpose of attending is to see to it that Margot Parker's campaign in Khawby in November has the crucial promise by UKIP to repeal the Equality Act 2010.
